Items Lester carries in Gothic 1 Remake.
Lester can be found in the Swamp Camp (Novice).
You: Tell me something about the Brotherhood.
Lester: Such as?
You: Tell me about the different groups.
Lester: Well, there are three: at the top are the gurus, which you could call the minds of the Brotherhood. They are extremely powerful, literally and figuratively speaking.
Lester: Now, if the gurus are the minds, the templars are the muscle: they are hard-trained warriors with an indomitable will, and some of them have also been blessed with the Sleeper's magic.
Lester: Finally, there's us, the novices - I suppose you could say we're the hands that keep our community running. Some novices are content where they are, while others eventually become templars or gurus.
You: What's the deal with those herbs everyone here smokes?
Lester: The swampweed? Its an herb that grows here in the swamp - we smoke it because it opens our minds to the Sleeper.
Lester: Honestly, though, most folk outside of the Brotherhood don't care so much about its spiritual properties - they just smoke it because it takes the edge off.
Lester: It's a shame, really, but at least it means we get to trade the herbs for wares from the other camps and spread the Sleeper's word.
You: What exactly is this "Sleeper?"
Lester: "This" Sleeper is the divine being that we worship.
Lester: He sent our master, Y'Berion, a vision many years ago and told him that if we help him return to the world, he will grant us freedom.
You: And you believe that?
Lester: Well, let's put it this way, two years in this hellhole of a Colony open your mind to certain possibilities. And the Sleeper IS powerful, that is a fact.
Lester: I know what the other camps think we're all just a bunch of lunatics, but let me tell you, the visions he sends us are as real as the magic he gifts to our gurus and templars.
You: Can you help me find my way around?
Lester: Hm, why not, I'm done for the day. Where do you wanna go?
You: Who are you?
Lester: Me? I'm Lester. I take care of the newcomers around here ... like you, it seems.
Lester: Good thing you didn't just talk to Baal Namib. You probably don't know this, but outsiders aren't allowed to talk to the gurus.
You: How do I convince the gurus if they won't talk to me?
Lester: Well, maybe it doesn't seem like it, but the gurus are watching very closely what folk do around here - especially newcomers.
Lester: If they think you've made yourself useful to our community, one of them will talk to you sooner or later.
Lester: Just look around - there's plenty of chances to make an impression, you just have to find them.
Lester: Wait! You just addressed a guru, you shouldn't have done that. The only time an outsider or a novice is allowed to speak to a baal, is if they speak to him first.
You: BROTHER LESTER, I RENOUNCED THE OLD GODS!
Lester: WHAT?! HOW DID THAT COME TO PASS?
You: I HAD A VISION, BROTHER LESTER! THE SLEEPER SPOKE TO ME!
Lester: INCREDIBLE! WHAT DID HE TELL YOU?
You: HE SAID, FIND THE SWAMP CAMP AND JOIN THE NOBLE BROTHERHOOD!
Lester: WHAT WISDOM! YOU SHOULD REJOICE! FEW ARE THOSE WHOM THE SLEEPER BLESSES THUS!
Lester: AH, MY FRIEND, THERE YOU ARE! PRAY, HOW HAVE YOU BEEN?
You: I want to join the Brotherhood.
Lester: I thought as much. Then you'll have to convince Cor Kalom, Master Y'Berion's right hand. He decides who gets in and who doesn't.
Lester: He's a busy man, though, so he relies on the guru to tell him who's worth his time. Like my master, Baal Namib.
Lester: Exactly.
You: But I WANT to speak to your master.
Lester: Everydone does. Why don't we have a chat instead? I'm sure I can help you just as well.
You: How do I get YOUR master to speak to me?
Lester: Simple. You have to know what he wants to hear.
You: Which is?
Lester: A show of faith. Here's what we're gonna do: next time we're in his vicinity, come to talk to me.
Lester: You see, Baal Namib has been worried lately because plenty of the new guys still pray to Innos or Adanos rather than just the Sleeper.
Lester: That's why YOU will tell me that you've had a vision, a glorious one, that made you come here and renounce the Old Gods.
Lester: Make of a show of it, and don't hold back. The man loves a good conversion story.
Lester: You think you can manage that?
You: Not a problem.
