Admission to the Swamp Camp
The Swamp Camp seems different than the rest. The gurus are talking about the Sleeper and promise enlightenment. If I serve and prove myself, I could become part of them - and the strange sort of power that's lingering among them ...
The Swamp Camp's Brotherhood of
the Sleeper only takes those who prove their devotion. To be made a novice by
Cor Kalom you must win the favor of at least four of the five gurus, the Baals. Each is convinced differently, and
Joru and
Lester guide you on how.
- 1Reach the Swamp Camp safely by having
Baal Parvez escort you from the Old Camp's market; carry weapons and healing in case he's drawn into a fight. - 2Inside, give
Joru in the northwest of the camp the ration of
swampweed you received from
Fortuno. In return he tells you how to win over each of the gurus. - 3Win
Baal Namib's favor with
Lester's help: have
Lester lead you out of Namib's earshot, ask how to get his master to speak to you, then return and play along with
Lester's ruse until Namib gives his support. - 4Win
Baal Orun's favor by helping
Ghorim at the weed mashers, then gathering the
Swampweed Harvest from
Balor and
Viran for
Cor Kalom. Orun rewards you with his approval and a Sleep scroll. - 5Win
Baal Cadar's favor by casting that Sleep scroll on one of his kneeling novices near the blacksmith. A Sleep scroll can also be had from
Baal Kagan in the New Camp. - 6Win
Baal Tyon's favor with a Prepared
Dreamcall roll, earned by completing Canvassing Customers for
Baal Kagan in the New Camp. Give the roll to Tyon at the Temple Square; he wakes, tells you of his vision, and pledges his support. - 7Win
Baal Tondral's favor by finding New Souls for the Brotherhood, recruiting someone from the Old Camp. - 8With at least four gurus behind you, see
Cor Kalom in his laboratory in the northeast corner of the camp. List your supporters and affirm your belief in
the Sleeper, and he makes you a Novice and gives you armor. - 9Press
Cor Kalom for a better welcome and he hands you weed to deliver to
Gomez. That errand lets you into the Old Camp castle to give the Letter to the Magicians of Fire to Milten.
- Joining the Swamp Camp fails all Old Camp and New Camp admission quests and related side quests for the playthrough.
- Speaking to a Guru/Baal before they address you can harm your admission.
- Answering
Cor Kalom's question with Option 2 turns him permanently hostile, locking out the Swamp Camp. - Being rude to the Old Camp south gate guard while escorting
Dusty turns guards hostile.
Cor Kalom's final devotion question
- 'Because I have felt the Sleeper's power, and I know he'll set us free'Accepted; you are initiated into the Brotherhood
- 'Frankly - I just came here for the free swampweed'
Cor Kalom is insulted and turns hostile; locked out of joining the Swamp Camp - 'I'm still trying to figure it out.'Annoyed; gives you another chance to answer correctly
Baal Kagan's reward for Canvassing Customers
- 'I'll take the nuggets'100
Ore Nuggets (usable to help
Dusty for Tondral's favor) - 'Help me join the Brotherhood'
Dreamcall (Prepared) roll, used for
Baal Tyon's favor - 'I want the scrolls...'Choose 3 of 5 magic scrolls: Fist of Wind, Telekenesis, Pyrokinesis, Sleep, Charm (the Sleep scroll can win
Baal Cadar's favor)
Baal Namib is the easiest Guru; you only need
Lester's help.- You only need 4 of the 5 Gurus, so you can skip the hardest one.
- Getting
Baal Cadar's approval unlocks him as a magic/herb merchant. - Canvassing Customers' reward choice flexibly feeds multiple Guru-favor paths.
