Joining 
Gomez's people means earning the backing of the Old Camp's Shadows, passing 
Diego's Test of Faith, and only then being escorted in to Gomez himself. You cannot already belong to the New Camp or the Brotherhood.
- 1Talk to Diego near the gate until he suggests you join Gomez's crew, then climb to the castle gate and speak to
Thorus. He explains that only men the Shadows vouch for get past him. - 2Win the approval of the Outer Ring's Shadows by doing their favors.
Fingers wants you to learn a thief's skill, 
Dexter wants 
Cor Kalom's recipe from the Swamp Camp, 
Whistler wants his 
old sword bought back from 
Fisk, Thorus wants 
Mordrag dealt with, and Sly wants the missing warder Nek found. You don't need every one, just enough. - 3When enough Shadows back you, ask Diego about his Test of Faith. He sends you to the Old Mine to bring back a supply list from Ian and keep it out of New Camp hands. Buy a map from
Graham near the north gate if you need directions. - 4Descend into the Old Mine to the men gathered around the table partway down, give Ian Diego's countersign, and take the List of Requirements back to Diego.
- 5With the Shadows and Diego behind you, tell Thorus you have Diego's approval and he lets you through the gate.
- 6Inside the castle, hand the Letter to the Magicians of Fire to Milten at the
Fire Mages' temple, then see 
Torrez for your reward. Cross the courtyard into the main hall where 
Raven meets you and takes you up to Gomez. - 7Offer Gomez your service and tell him about the contacts you've made, but do not mention
Y'Berion, or he won't believe you. He makes you a Shadow. - 8Speak to Raven again afterward. He gives you armor and your first real assignment, sending you to investigate the Swamp Camp.
