The Colony has no conventional fast travel, so most of your journeys are on foot or by mount. This guide covers the late-game teleport options, the safe ways to reach each camp early on, how to get and read your maps, and the location of the starting Exchange Zone.
Fast travel and Teleport Runes
There is no way to teleport directly to points of interest. Even for landmarks you have already visited, you travel there on foot or by mount. The only fast travel comes from three Teleport Runes that warp you to the camps, unlocked as the story progresses.
| Teleport Rune | How you get it | Destination |
|---|---|---|
| Swamp Camp | Rewarded by | Camp entrance |
| New Camp | Given by | Water Mages' Lair |
| Old Camp | Found in Chapter 5 in | Old Camp |
Reaching the camps
Early on, the safest way to reach a distant camp is to let an escort NPC take you there, since they fight enemies along the way. Each escort is a one-time quest, after which you travel on foot.
To reach the New Camp, talk to
Drax, who can escort you with no main-quest progress required. He stands on the right side of the path toward the Old Camp, wearing a blue scarf. Alternatively, progress Old Camp quests until
Thorus offers the 'I'm ready for that job you mentioned' line, which starts Out of Sight and leads to
Mordrag; choosing the right dialogue begins Admission to New Camp, where
Mordrag escorts you. On foot, the New Camp is northwest of the Old Camp: exit the main gate, head west to a wooden bridge, and you will find the entrance guarded by two guards.
Killing
Mordrag after you reach the New Camp grants
Mordrag's Ring and 200 EXP, but the local guards help him and turn hostile, making the fight much harder.
To reach the Swamp Camp, have
Baal Parvez escort you during the Admission to the Swamp Camp quest. Find him by heading to the Old Camp castle gate, taking the left path to the Market area, and looking by the campfire. After that one-time escort, travel on foot from the Old Camp South Gate heading east.
Maps
You unlock the map by buying it in the Old Camp. The
Map of the Colony shows the whole colony and is cheaper from
Dexter in the Market Area.
Graham, found in front of the cauldron east of the north gate in the mornings, sells both the
Map of the Colony and the detailed
Map of the Old Camp. The Old Camp has no area map until you buy the
Map of the Old Camp.
Open a map from the Inventory: select the map item and press the Read button. On the in-game interactive map you can search and toggle pins, which come in five types: NPC, Teacher, Trader, Armorer, and Chest. The open-map control is M on PC (rebindable), hold the Touchpad on PS5, or press View on Xbox.
The blank bottom section of the Colony map is Orc territory, which only becomes accessible in the latter part of the main story.
The Exchange Zone
The Exchange Zone is the game's starting area, the large elevator complex from the opening cutscene, northeast of the Old Camp. It becomes the objective of the Lost Apprentice main quest in Chapter 2, when you search for
Cor Kalom's missing apprentice
Caine.
To get there, exit the Old Camp via the North Gate, cross the bridge, then follow the road that branches right all the way up to the mountains, back toward the starting area. Although the quest points to the Exchange Zone itself, the real destination is the Abandoned Mine just before the large gatehouse. You are in the right place when you see the Old Camp warden
Orry standing in front of the mine entrance.
